A South Korean parliamentary committee has approved a free trade agreement with the US. This clears the way for final ratification in the country's National Assembly, expected in June.

A South Korean parliamentary committee has approved a free trade agreement with the US.

Surrounded by opposition lawmakers who oppose the deal, South Korean Foreign Affairs and Trade Committee chairman Park Jin announced the approval of the trade pact.

Park Jin, Chairman of S. Korean Foreign Affairs and Trade Committee said "I declare that the South Korea-US free trade agreement is approved."

The trade accord now goes to South Korea's parliament for final approval.

Ratification might happen on April 29th and 30th, but that could change depending on negotiations between rival parties.
