Cuba be readmitted to Organization of American States after 47 years

Cuba may be readmitted to the Organization of American States. That message is coming through on the eve of the organization's annual summit in Trinidad and Tobago.

At the opening ceremony, US President Barack Obama said the US is seeking a new beginning with Cuba. He admitts overcoming decades of mistrust will not be easy but new steps must be made.

Re-admitting Cuba has dominated discussions in the lead-up to the meeting. If Cuba is not recognized, President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, supported by Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua, has threatened to veto the final declaration of the summit.
