EXPECTED AGREEMENTS 2: ANTI-PROTECTIONISM

With the unfolding of the financial crisis, a new wave of protectionism has emerged worldwide. The G20 London summit reiterated the importance to fight against protectionism in order to tide over the crisis.

The Boao Forum for Asia is expected to become another platform for promoting free trade. Experts say Asian economies have many complementary aspects in terms of trade. They are less likely to adopt protectionist measures against each other. And they are expected to improve regional cooperation mechanisms to boost trade.

EXPECTED AGREEMENTS 3: VOICE FOR EMERGING ECONOMIES

Right before the G20 London summit, a greater say for developing countries had already become a concern worldwide. The "Bric" countries, Brazil, Russia, India and China, have called for a guarantee that emerging countries have a greater say.

The secretary-general of the Boao Forum for Asia, Long Yongtu, has echoed the sentiment. He said this year's forum will focus on emerging economies. And he hopes the forum will provide a platform for those economies to make their voices heard.
