UN fails to agree on response to DPRK launch

China is recommending that the reaction of the UN Security Council be "cautious and proportionate". The Chinese permanent representative to the UN, ambassador Zhang Yesui, made the statement at the end of the close-door meeting of the Security Council.

UN Security Council were unable to achieve consensus on  a response to the DPRK's move.

Zhang says it serves the common interests of the international community to continue promoting the six-party nuclear talks, and achieving denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. And also maintaining peace and stability on the Peninsula and in Northeast Asia.
