Chinese President Hu Jintao has left for London to attend the Group of 20 financial summit, scheduled for Thursday. In an interview with the Xinhua News Agency ahead of his departure, he called for strengthened coordination among nations on economic policies. He says countries must focus on the role of finance in spurring the real economy. He says this must be done to restore confidence in the financial system.

President Hu Jintao says countries need to adopt economic stimulus measures in line with their own situations.

He says this must be in tandem with cooperation across the globe, to promote growth and employment and improve people's lives.

Hu Jintao is calling for immediate efforts to stabilize the global financial market and spur the real economy to restore confidence of the people and enterprises.
