The 300-year old Labrang Monastery will be getting a facelift. It's located in Gannan of Gansu Province, and it's one of the six major monasteries of the Geluk school of Tibetan Buddhism.

The State Administration of Cultural Heritage has approved the overall repair plan. The local culture bureau says it has applied for 150 million yuan from the central government for the project.

Maintenance and repairs will be done in such a way as to preserve as much of the original components and use as many traditional techniques as possible.
