The 2nd World Buddhism Forum -- jointly held by the Chinese mainland and Taiwan -- is scheduled to get underway on Saturday.

Taiwan Affairs Office spokeswoman, Fan Liqing

Fan Liqing, spokesman of Taiwan Affairs Office, said,
"The forum will be a platform for trading, culture,
education, and folk art exchanges. We will invite Taiwan
compatriots from all walks of life to the forum."

The Forum will first take place in Wuxi in eastern China's Jiangsu Province for two days, and then later in Taipei for three days.

It is expected to attract over 1,000 participants from about 50 countries and regions. An opera introducing Buddha's life will also be presented. The director of the opera collected music elements and natural sounds from Buddhism in India and Nepal to enhance the performance.

The theme of this year's forum is the harmony of the world. The participants will discuss a wide range of topics including charity, environmental protection, culture, music and education.
