Police have arrested six and 89 others surrendered after a riot in northwest China's Qinghai Province.

Police have arrested six and 89 others surrendered after  a riot in northwest China's Qinghai Province.

Several hundred people, including nearly 100 monks from the La'gyab Monastery, attacked the La'gyab Township police station in Golog Tibet Autonomous Prefecture on Saturday afternoon. They assaulted policemen and government staff. Some government staff were slightly injured.

Police said people had been deceived by rumors about Zhaxi Sangwu, who went missing after escaping from La'gyab Township police station on Saturday afternoon. Zhaxi Sangwu was under investigation for being involved in advocating "Tibet Independence." Social order has been restored in the area.
