Li Changchun meets Australian Prime Minister

Li Changchun, a senior CPC official, has met with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in Canberra.

Li Changchun conveyed greetings from Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao and expressed sympathy to Australia regarding the recent bushfires and floods.

Li suggested that both countries maintain high-level exchanges and he extended an invitation to Rudd and other Australian leaders to visit China. He suggested the two countries expand economic cooperation on the basis of mutual benefits. And Li also suggested that both countries maintain close consultation on major issues such as the financial crisis and climate change.

Rudd told Li that he looked forward to meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao again during the upcoming G-20 summit. He also praised the stimulus measures that China has adopted to deal with the financial crisis.
