Dargya Gompa monastery in Sichuan will have tap water soon. Construction of a 3-kilometer tap-water pipe is underway. The local government invested 450-thousand yuan for the project, which will provide drinking water for the monastery and six nearby villages.

Yan Xuguang, Director of Ganzi Tibetan Affairs Office said "Lamas are part of our residents, and the monastery is a unit of society and we provide social services to them. They should also enjoy the fruits of reform and opening-up and enjoy the results of social services."

In Sichuan, a village in the Aba county is also busy with construction on Saturday. But the work is for villager Luoluo. It's a slack season for farming, so Luoluo pulled down his old house and planned to build a new two-storey house. By tradition, nearly all the other villagers come to offer a hand.

In Guoluo of Qinghai province, Zhuoma got up early to do the milking. Her husband, Hua Qing says they can earn 4 to 5 thousand yuan from selling milk in the summer.
