At the No. 2 Middle School in Lhasa, third grade students are taught in the only remaining class building, after two others were burnt down by rioters last year. These blackboards are the only reminders that students were once educated where now only rubble remains. The school’s headmaster was responsible for figuring out what to do with 600 students, and (he/she) still feels sorry for what they had to go through.

Degyi, Headmaster Lhasa No.2 Middle School, said, "We borrowed some classrooms from other schools to carry out our lessons, but that means our students have to travel long distances to attend classes. That’s a big inconvenience for the kids. We plan to build new classroom buildings within the year. I’m looking forward to the day when all the students can take their lessons within the school area here."
