Early in the morning, the Buddhist faithful walk in circles around the Potala Palace in an age-old act of worship. A pilgrimage to this holy spot is an important ritual for many Tibetans. But turning these Sutra wheels is not the only way to show religious devotion… as other pilgrims rest in front of the Potala to contemplate their lives and their faith.

Elsewhere on the streets of Lhasa, people are busy managing their livelihoods. Tourism has experienced a significant drop since the riots last March, resulting in sluggish business for many shops. Many business owners are hoping for a comeback as the peak travel season approaches.
