DPRK slams US-ROK military exercise

The DPRK says it will take every necessary measure to protect its sovereignty, in response to a joint military exercise staged by South Korea and the United States.

On Wednesday, the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis arrived at a naval base in the South Korean port city of Busan to take part in the joint exercises.

The 12-day maneuvers involve tens of thousands of US and South Korean troops and include live-fire drills.

Seoul and Washington say the drills are purely defensive. Tensions on the Korean Peninsula are also running high over DPRK's plan to launch a satellite.
