BEIJING, March 11 (Xinhua) -- China on Wednesday said it has lodged solemn representations with the United States over the U.S. latest remarks on Tibet.

China urges US to drop Tibet bill

China has urged the United States to withdraw a proposed congressional bill on Tibet. The call came on Tuesday as the US House of Representatives was to vote on a non-binding measure on Tibet.

Ma Zhaoxu, spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry, said, "Tibet's democratic reforms marked an important landmark in an international movement to abolish serf systems. And it was significant progress for international human rights. These are great contributions that Tibetan and other Chinese people have made to the international causes of democracy, liberty and human rights."  Full story>>
