China urged to reform land expropriation policies

BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) -- China should amend its laws and policies on land administration to ensure that all the land expropriated are for "public interests", said a political advisor on Monday.

"Measures should be taken to extend the land owners' rights to know and participate in land expropriation procedure," said Li Dongyu, member of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), at a CPPCC plenary session.
