Chinese leaders join group discussions

Chinese leaders joined discussions with NPC deputies from around the country on Friday. They addressed a wide range of topics, from improving people's livelihoods, to economic reform.

After listening to NPC deputies from the Chongqing delegation, top legislator Wu Bangguo said Chongqing is in a historic period of development. He encouraged the deputies to maintain confidence, to ensure stable and rapid economic development.

During discussions with the Gansu NPC delegation, Premier Wen Jiabao asked how the central government's macro economic control policy is being implemented in Gansu Province. He also asked about the performance of local companies, Gansu's exploration of resources, environmental protection...and the reconstruction of quake-hit areas.

Top advisor Jia Qinglin joined the CPPCC group discussion Friday afternoon with non-party members. After listening to members' opinions, Jia Qinglin said that non-party personnages are an important force at the country's political venue.
