One day before the opening of the Plenary Session, NPC Standing Committee member Zheng Gongcheng had a special visitor, Kang Houming, a migrant worker Deputy from Chongqing delegation.

The only topic during the short meeting was the migrant workers' situation.

Zheng stressed the current employment situation is the worst in the last ten years.

Zheng Gongcheng said, "More than 20 million migrant workers had to return home since last year. Most of these people are the second generation of the migrant workers. They are not prepared, or not able to work on the farmland both physically and mentally. So we can say their expectation for the future career has been severely damaged."

Both Zheng and Kang agree that if these young people can't find job after several months, social development and stability will be affected.

Zheng is one of the youngest Members of the NPC Standing Committee. A scholar who focuses on social security issues, he is also the most active member in every bimonthly sessions of the Standing Committee.
