Zhao Qizheng, Spokesman of 2nd Session of the 11th CPPCC, said, "The secretariat of the session has received more than 260 proposals. The one that impressed me most is about the 4 trillion yuan of stimulus package to boost the economy in the following two years."
The session is getting plenty of attention from the general public. A survey by China's people.com.cn shows anti-corruption tops the list. Next come environmental protection, food and medicine safety, health care reforms, income distribution, employment, housing, education, social welfare and judicial fairness.
A Beijing resident said, "I come from the rural area. Many of my relatives have lost their jobs because of the financial crisis. So I'll definitely keep a close eye on migrant workers' employment."
Another said, "About 5 million university students probably won't find jobs this year. This will lead to many problems. I'll pay attention to the issues on this."
Millions of internet users also went on-line for Premier Wen Jiabao recent question-and-answer session. Some questions came directly from domestic and overseas media.
More than 3,000 journalists from home and abroad have registered to cover the two sessions, marking a new record. Besides all the topical issues, the media are particularly concerned about how China aims to achieve its 8% GDP growth target for 2009 while the rest of the world continues to suffer through tough economic times.
