Shanghai has released details of a new policy that will allow experienced, skilled migrant workers to gain permanent residency. |
Migrants who meet those qualifications can apply for permanent residency at the city's human resources and social security bureau. Detailed application information is available on the city government's website. The policy was introduced in response to a shortage of professionals in Shanghai and to boost the economy.
Government officials say employees with strong technical skills only make up two percent of the city's demand, and for some senior technical jobs, supply accounts for less than one percent of openings.
