Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Jiang Yu, says China appreciates US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's recent positive comments on US policy towards China. She said China welcomes all efforts from the US to play a constructive role in peace, stability and development in the Asia-Pacific region.

Clinton will arrive in China on Friday. Her agenda includes seeking cooperation with China on the financial crisis, the DPRK nuclear issue and other issues of common concern.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jiang Yu said, "China and the US have differences in history, culture, social systems and development, so it's normal that both countries have different stances on human rights issues. China is willing to carry out dialogue with the US on the basis of equality and mutual respect. We are looking forward to making positive achievements in our negotiations."
