Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Tanzanian counterpart Jakaya Kikwete inaugurated the new national stadium.

Located in the western part of Dar es Salaam, construction of the stadium started in 2005.

It was built by a Chinese contractor with financing from the governments of both Tanzania and China at a cost of more than 56 million US dollars.

With 60-thousand seats, the ultra-modern stadium is the biggest in Tanzania.

President Jakaya Kikwete extended Tanzania's appreciation for China's assistance.
