Russian & EU officials meet in Moscow

Russian and EU officials held talks on Wednesday in Moscow, to discuss troubled ties and other international issues.

On the Middle East, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he expected Israel's new government "to be committed to agreements reached earlier as part of the negotiating process."

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said cooperation with Russia on Middle East peace is fundamental.

Lavrov also said Russia was open to the possibility of letting the US and NATO ship weaponry across its territory to Afghanistan.
