Khan told reporters that government officials had reviewed his case with the Islamabad High Court and came to what he described as "a good judgement". He said he didn't want to talk about Pakistan's nuclear program and who else was involved in leaking its secrets.

A government prosecutor said security measures for Khan would remain in place, suggesting his movement would still be limited. Khan is the architect of Pakistan's nuclear program and has been mostly confined to his Islamabad home since 2004, when he took sole responsibility for leaking nuclear secrets.
