China´s Antarctic expedition team leaves Kunlun station

China's Antarctic expedition team has finished building Kunlun station. China's first inland research station on the icy continent. Team members are returning to Zhongshan station before bitterly cold weather arrives.

The Chinese national flag is hoisted in front of the Kunlun  station, the third Chinese Antarctic base and the first in  inland Antarctica February 2, 2009. [Xinhua]

20 days of hard work in extreme conditions has made it hard for the researchers to bid each other farewell. Many took pictures to preserve their memories.

The exploration team has already left Dome A, and even though it's hard for vehicles to travel over the rugged ice, scientific research will continue on the journey to Zhongshan station. The expedition is expected to reach the station by the end of this month.
