Premier Wen delivers speech at Cambridge University

Wen Jiabao said China is willing to learn from and cooperate with other countries,especially in facing the global financial crisis.
He said it is now a priority to work together to get through the current difficulties.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said, "The Chinese government's position on this issue includes three points. First, countries should run their own affairs well and refrain from passing on problems onto others. Second, countries should cooperate with full sincerity and avoid pursuing their own interests at the expense of others. Thirdly, countries should address both the symptoms and the root causes of the problem."
Premier Wen called for serious reflection on the current economic systems and theories in the face of the international financial crisis.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said, "The international financial crisis fully demonstrates that a totally unregulated market economy cannot work. We must strike a balance between financial innovation and regulation, between the financial sector and the real economy, and between savings and consumption."
The premier pointed out that a loss of morality is an underlying cause of the current crisis. He urged all businesses to shoulder their social responsibilities in effectively dealing with the crisis.
The premier said China is confident it can tackle the financial crisis. And he expressed confidence in China-EU relations.
Wen Jiabao said his tour to Europe has deepened his understanding of the continent, and that China-EU cooperation now stands at a new historic starting point.
