Special Report: Israel airstrikes in GazaTEHRAN, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Sunday told the Palestinian Islamic Hamas movement to be aware of possible fresh Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, Iranian semi-official Fars news agency reported.
In a meeting with political bureau chief of Hamas Khaled Meshaal, Khamenei congratulated Hamas for the victory of their resistance against Israel.
"All of us are proud of the people of Gaza and Islamic resistance," Khamenei said, "They lived through this great tribulation with their adamancy."
But Khamenei also said that war in Gaza has not yet ended, "the political and psychological war of Israel is still going on."
He said that Hamas should be alert and get full ready for any possible situation, even the beginning of a fresh war.
Meshaal thanked Iran for its political and spiritual support for the people of Gaza and Hamas.
"Certainly, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made great contribution to the victory of people of Gaza," Meshaal said.
A Palestinian Islamic Hamas movement delegation led by Khalid Mashaal has arrived in Iran on Sunday. According to Iran's official IRNA news agency, Mashaal will hold talks with senior Iranian officials on major regional and international issues.
His visit to Tehran is part of his regional tour that previously took him to Egypt, Qatar, Syria, and Turkey.
Iran never hesitated to pronounce its all-out support for Hamas during the three-week unprecedented Israeli air and ground offensive on Gaza, during which about 1,400 Palestinians were killed and 5,500 others wounded.
