Sri Lanka's government has ruled out a cease-fire, but urged the rebels to let civilians leave and guaranteed safe passage for noncombatants.

The military has launched what it calls a "mop-up operation" in the Visuamadu jungle. Troops on Saturday found a "well fortified" and high-profile Tamil Tiger hideout with an underground bunker.

Also on Saturday, a naval ship intercepted an explosives-laden rebel suicide boat, which was destroyed early on Friday. Sri Lanka's military believes it's close to destroying the Tigers.
