After a lull during the middle of the Spring Festival, the country's transport network is experiencing rising passenger numbers again. On Friday, bus passengers increased by 20 million. More than 70-thousand buses were put to use to cope with the surge.

The railway sector is also coping with rising passenger numbers. Beijing has added nearly 30 trains to Chongqing and Guangzhou to cope with demand.

Guangzhou Railway Station has been receiving more than 60-thousand passengers each day. Wuchang Railway Station estimates more than 100-thousand passengers will arrive or depart its platforms in a single day. XuZhou Railway Station is sending nearly 40-thousand people on their way everyday, while Chengdu Railway Station is coping with 80-thousand passengers daily.

Now, tickets from Fuyang to Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing are in great demand.

Wang Jin, official, Fuyang railway station, said, "From Fuyang, we have increased trains to Suzhou and Hangzhou, and decreased the trip to Shanghai. The routes are being shortened so that the trains can run more times, carrying more passengers."

The country's Ministry of Railways has asked local departments to increase passenger trains and reduce freight trains, and increase long-distances routes while reducing short-distant routes. It has also urged passenger-intensive areas in Chengyu, Hefu, Wuhan and Nanchang to launch temporary transport plans to cope with the passenger surge.
