The warship is protecting several Chinese merchant ships in the Mandab Strait, between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula and Djibouti.

The "Wuhan" is one of three Chinese navy vessels taking part in international anti-piracy activities. On Thursday, several other merchant ships were also tracked or attacked by Somali pirates near the Gulf of Aden.
