Hu Jintao, said, "I visited Jinggangshan in 1993. After 16 years, I'm here again. I feel so glad to see the achievements in the revolutionary base, and that people's lives are getting better. Jinggangshan is the cradle of China's revolution. People in Jinggangshan have greatly contributed to the success of China's revolution. The central government cares very much about revolutionary base areas and the people living here. We will continue to implement beneficial policies to support further development of these areas, and make every effort in order to ensure better lives for people here."
President Hu Jintao then joined local people, singing some of the same songs sung by soldiers in the Red Army decades ago.
As Hu Jintao prepared to say goodbye, local residents presented him with gifts of local agricultural products. The president waved to them, and wished them a better future in the Year of the Ox and beyond.
