Ban visited UN facilities that were targeted during the war. One was a school where nearly 40 Palestinians who had sought refuge from the fighting were killed in Israeli shelling.

His convoy also made a stop at the UN's Gaza City headquarters. The compound's warehouse was seriously damaged by Israeli fire last week. Desperately needed humanitarian supplies were destroyed.

The UN chief asked the crowd to honor victims of the offensive.Ban called the attacks on the UN headquarters in Gaza and two of its schools outrageous, and demanded a full investigation.

Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary General, said, "This (is) an outrages and totally unacceptable attack against the United Nations. I have protested many times, I'm today protesting again in the strongest terms and condemning it. I have asked full investigation and make those responsible people accountable."
