UN chief in Beirut to discuss Gaza

Special Report:   Israel airstrikes in Gaza

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is in Beirut where he will meet Lebanese President Michel Suleiman. He will also hold talks with the Parliamentary Speaker and the Prime Minister.

Ban Ki-moon is expected to give a speech at the Lebanese Parliament, and inspect UN Interim Forces in south Lebanon.

After Lebanon, he will travel to Syria, and then to Kuwait for the Arab economic, development and social summit.

The UN chief started this week a regional tour by visiting Egypt, Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories. He held several meetings with regional leaders in an attempt to reach a cease fire in Gaza strip.
