Special Report:   Israel airstrikes in Gaza

TEHRAN, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday that Israel's raid on the Gaza Strip shows its "aggressive nature."

Israel's outrage is still going on which is antihuman and antipeace, Ahmadinejad told reporters in a press conference.

"Israel now in Gaza is taking the ugliest and guiltiest action in the human history," Ahmadinejad said.

Israel is now depriving the people of Gaza of their basic human rights, all the nations and people of the world have witnessed Israel's "aggressive nature," he said, adding that the Iranian people will continue spiritual and material support to the Palestinians.

Ahmadinejad blamed UN Security Council for its incapacity for solving the Gaza crisis. "Apparently, UN Security Council is incapable of insuring world safety," he said.

He also blamed the West for supporting Israel and keeping silent about what is happening in Gaza.

When asked about an Iranian commander's call for an oil embargo on Israel's supporters, Ahmadinejad said that it was a "good idea," but he also said that "such a thing is not on the agenda yet."

Radical Hamas movement enjoys strong backing from Iran which does not recognize Israel as a state of the international community.
