As the Spring Festival holiday draws near, Beijing tourism authorities have launched a series of promotions hoping to persuade tourists from other provinces to spend the Chinese new year in the capital.

And tourist agencies will distribute 20 thousand free tickets for major parks and Spring Festival fairs.

Apart from free tickets, more than 100 tourist spots will offer discounts of 20 to 40 percent.

To encourage the tourists to stay, free hotel rooms can be won in a lucky draw the 7-day holiday. For those who are not so lucky, more than 200 star-ranked hotels are offering a variety of discounts on their rooms.

Zhang Huiguang, Chief of Beijing Tourism Administration, said, "These preferential measures aim to encourage tourists to spend their money happily in Beijing. The tourists will enjoy the benefits as well as boost the domestic demand. "

Meanwhile, the tourism administration is adopting a series of policies to ensure the rights and interests of the tourists who come to Beijing. Tourists experiencing problems with regular agents will receive quick compensation, and illegal agents and tour guides will be dealt with severely.
