The Chinese Navy fleet completed its first escort mission off the coast of Somalia on Thursday, accompanying four cargo ships sailing through the Gulf of Aden.

The Destroyer Haikou escorted two ships from Hebei province. The journey lasted forty four hours. In a separate mission, the missile destroyer Wuhan sailed alongside two foreign cargo ships. Neither encountered any pirates. The Chinese fleet has now returned to its base, and is waiting for the next escort mission.
