Tzipi Livni, Israeli Foreign Minister, said, "As while acting this military operation we are trying to take all the necessary steps in order to avoid civil casualties but unfortunately since they hide among civilians sometimes this can happen."
Elsewhere, Jordan's Queen Rania, whose parents are Palestinian, urged the world to pay more attention to the plight of Palestinian civilians caught up in Israel's offensive.
Queen Rania, Jordan, said, "The children of Gaza, the dead and the barely living, their mothers, their fathers, are not acceptable collateral damage. Their lives do matter. Their loss does count. They are not divisible from our universal humanity. No child is. No civilian is."
UN and Gaza health officials report more than 550 Palestinian dead and around 2,500 wounded since Israel's offensive began including at least 200 civilians.
