The President reassured people that difficulties will be overcome, and the government will live up to its promises.

These temporary houses in Dujiangyan were among the first to be constructed after the earthquake in May. Over six-thousand people have been relocated here. Hu Jintao took a tour around, visiting convenience stores, restaurants, and other facilities. He asked residents here whether they're satisfied with their new homes.

Chinese president Hu Jintao said, "The central government is greatly concerned with people in quake-hit areas. We're concerned whether you'll suffer in the cold winter, and spend the first New Year after the disaster smoothly. Right now, there are difficulties in your daily lives, but I hope they're only temporary problems. Please believe me, the central government, the provincial and city governments, have made reconstruction plans, which will ultimately improve your lives. "
