The system extends to express railways, subways, and buses, making inter-city travel much quicker and more convenient.

Mr. Sun lives in Yangzhou in Jiangsu. He frequently travels to Nanjing for business and weekend excursions with his wife. Outside the Nanjing Railway Station, the couple use their Yangzhou cards to take the bus.

Yangzhou resident Mr. Sun said, "It is very convenient. We can pay both subway and bus fares with our cards in Nanjing."

The universal smart card project is to expand to other cities in the Yangtze River Delta..

The region accounts for a fifth of the nation's total GDP.

Dynamic, efficient, and open, the Yangtze River Delta will continue to play its role as economic engine in the country's reform and opening up.
