Chinese youth have new attitude to careers

Xuan Xuan's mother, said, "When I joined the work force in the 1970s, the majority of people chose a job that was closely connected to what they had learned at school. And many of us did it for a lifetime once we chose it. I really can't understand why my daughter wants to open a nail-and-beauty parlor. It's a disgrace to her international law major at college."
The two generations see their careers from contrasting perspectives. The older generation is satisfied with a stable vocation and salary. But the younger generation aspires to a range of diverse experiences and much higher job expectations. China's 30-years of reform and opening-up to the outside world have enabled younger Chinese to seek their future employment with a much more open-minded and international outlook.
