New riots hit greece for a third day

Clashes have broken out again between police and protesters across Greece for a third day. The massive unrest was sparked by the fatal police shooting Saturday of a teenager in Athens.

Young protesters smashed their way through the downtown area on Monday torching stores and buildings. Several vehicles were also set fire, as was the city's Christmas tree.

Squads of police in riot gear had running battles with the protesters as they tried to disperse the crowds with tear gas.

Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis has called an emergency cabinet session and will meet President Karolos Papoulias in a couple of hours' time.
