A recent survey says it will. But there are indications that top end products will still be on the shopping lists of consumers.

The shop window is key to enticing customers into stores. And never more so than in the midst of a financial crisis.

Here at this traditional English department store --Fortnum and Mason's in London -- you'd be forgiven for thinking there was no credit crunch.

Champagne features amongst the finest foods and beverages on display, attracting passing shoppers and tourists.

Inside, preparations for Christmas are underway.

Fortnum's baker Fred Hussey is up early preparing traditional baked goods such as mince pies, epitomizing a traditional Christmas.

Customer Service Director Cathy O'Neil says "Hampers" are Fortnum and Mason's best seller. A hamper is a wicker basket filled with seasonal food and drink.
