Venezuela is holding joint naval exercises with Russia in Venezuelan waters.
The state-run Bolivarian News Agency says the operation involved 11 Venezuelan and four Russian ships and has been dubbed "Venrus 2008".

The report says the exercises include anti-aircraft defense and tactics to combat terrorism and drug trafficking.
The Russian squadron arrived in Venezuela last Tuesday, led by the nuclear-powered cruiser "Peter the Great". It's the first Russian military exercises in this region since the Cold War.
