Some hostage escape in Mumbai

Indian commandos in Mumbai have raided the Nariman House where attackers remain barricaded after nearly two days of attacks on the city.

Military officials said a woman and child were released from the headquarters of the Jewish group Chabad earlier on Thursday.

Indian commando Amit Tiwari said one of the gunmen had been killed, but at least four armed men remained in the building.

There were reports of eight hostages being freed from the building. But a diplomat who is familiar with the situation said the eight had likely been hiding out in a nearby building.
