President Hu visits local families and Chinese students in Cuba

Hu Jintao took some time away from political talks and economic meetings, and visited local families and Chinese students in Cuba. Hu Jintao said the friendship between Chinese and Cuban people will continue for generations to come.

Hu Jintao met students, listened to their problems and urged  them to work hard and make the most of their stay in Cuba.

Chinese students in their thousands welcome their president.

Like many of his previous trips abroad, the Chinese president visited a Spanish-language school of Havana University where many Chinese are enrolled in intensive language programs.

Ma Meishan and Zhang Rui come from northwestern China's Gansu province. They are studying at this school on a Cuban government-funded scholarship. They showed the Chinese president around their dormitory.

Hu Jintao said, "We should be grateful for what the Cuban government and people have offered us here in this school. I hope you will study hard and that will prove to be useful in your future careers. "
