On Saturday, the expedition team made a slight adjustment to its schedule for the best time to pass through the windy area. Team members said they were well prepared, both psychologically and logistically. The west wind belt is a turbulent area with gale-force winds and waves as high as 5 meters.

The team is scheduled to reach China's Zhongshan Station in the region next Monday and will head inland in early December.

The ambitious trip with a record number of 204 members aims to build the country's first inland expedition station in the Dome A zone, which is the highest inland point with a height of more than 3,500 meters. The region has an extreme climate, but is ideal for scientific study.
