Polling time on U.S. Election Day

WASHINGTON, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Polling on the U.S. Election Day of Nov. 4 will start right after midnight and will end at 1 a.m. the following day.

In two tiny towns in New Hampshire, namely the locations of Dixxville Notch and Hart, voting will begin immediately after 0000 eastern U.S. time (0500 GMT) Tuesday.

In the northeastern state of Vermont, voting will begin at 0500eastern time (1000 GMT), while in most other states, voting will begin between 0800 and 1000 eastern time (1300 and 1500 GMT).

In Alaska and Hawaii, polling will begin at 1100 eastern time (1600 GMT) and 1200 eastern time (1700 GMT), respectively.

Polling will first close in parts of Indiana and Kentucky at 1800 p.m. (2300 GMT).

One hour later, most of the polling stations in Florida, Georgia, the rest in Indiana and Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia will close.

At 1930 eastern time (0030 GMT Wednesday), North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia will finish voting.

Most of the states will finish polling between 2000 eastern time (0100 GMT Wednesday) and 2300 eastern time (0400 GMT Wednesday).

Alaska won't finish voting until 0100 eastern time Wednesday (0600 GMT).

Most experts expect the outcome of the election won't come out until 0400 GMT.
