Noeleen Heyzer made the suggestion to CCTV reporters in Thailand. She also says China plays a large role in the global economy.

Noeleen Heyzer, UN Executive Secretary, said, "China, since the economic reform, has played a tremendous role, and has created new opportunities, and it has released new energies for its people. And I'm very pleased to see that China has become an economic powerhouse. In fact, China is so important not only to the regional economy, but also to the global economy."
