Vice premier: China to push economic co-op with Vietnam

BEIJING, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- China and Vietnam should continuously boost cooperation in economy and trade to achieve a reciprocal and win-win situation, said Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday.

Li made the remark in his meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Li said trade and economic cooperation has been an important component of Sino-Vietnamese relations. China has been the largest trading partner of Vietnam for the past four years.

He said the turbulent international financial market and the economic slowdown were challenging all nations, thus China would adopt a flexible and focused macro-economic policy and exert efforts to expand domestic demand, especially the consumption demand, to maintain the stable and fast growth of its economy.

Li said China valued its relation with Vietnam, and would handle it from the overall perspective and enhance the comprehensive and strategic partnership of cooperation.

Dung, who is here for a visit and to attend the Asia-Europe Meeting(ASEM) summit, said promoting substantial cooperation between Vietnam and China conformed to the fundamental interest of the two peoples, and his country would step up the bilateral ties.
