The paper presents an in-depth analysis of the food safety situation in China and puts forward proposals for improving the current system.
The UN paper deals with seven aspects of food safety: legislation, management, inspection and enforcement, trade dimensions, monitoring and surveillance, communication, and international cooperation.
Jorgen Schlundt from the World Health Organization says the current system in China needs much improvement. At present, the government is responsible for everything when food safety breaches occur. But Schlundt says individual enterprises should be shouldering the responsibility.
