ASEM leaders, delegates arrving in Beijing for summit

The leaders of 45 Asian and European states and organizations are arriving in Beijing for the seventh summit of Asia-Europe Meeting, or ASEM.

The Vietnamese delegation, led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung,  was the first to arrive.

The Vietnamese delegation, led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, was the first to arrive. He is the guest of Premier Wen Jiabao, and this is his first visit to the country since assuming office in 2006.

Besides attending the summit, the Vietnamese P-M will also meet with other Chinese leaders.

The majority of the participants will arrive on Thursday, and temporary restrictions will be put in place on the highway to the airport to ensure traffic flows smoothly. The two-day biennial event begins on Friday.
